DSF Registry Error

Problem:

Users of the RealTime Advanced software must be able to read and write the Sundial Time Systems key in the Registry on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.  When this ability is blocked by Windows Security measures, the DSFRegistry error occurs.

Solution:

Log Into PC as an Administrator

Click Start->Run

Type REGEDIT in the “Open:” box and click OK

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window

Open the SOFTWARE key

Highlight the Sundial Time Systems key

Select "Permissions..." from the "Security" menu

For each of your RealTime users

Highlight the user

Check the box to Allow Full Control

• For NT 4.0 computers, you must ensure that the box is checked to "Replace Permissions on Existing SubKeys" – This is not the default for this option in NT 4.0

• For 2000 / XP / Vista / Windows 7 computers, ensure that "This Key and Subkeys" are marked.  This option is the default and is located in the Advanced Button.

Note 1:  Instead of setting this value for each user, you can select the group “Users”, or you can add the group “Everyone”

Note 2:  In 64 bit versions of Windows, the “Sundial Time Systems” key will be in the

   “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node”

Note 3:  For Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, use REGEDT32 instead of REGEDIT
