Ocassionnaly you will need to do maintance on your database. Realtime includes a utility to meet these needs. You will find the utility under the program group Realtime as pictured here.
By clicking on the Database Utility (Red Traffic Cone Icon) you will get this application window. The first step will be to run the utility as pictured to the below: Insure that the 'X' is in the box next to "Include System Files" and that the Database in the table is not highlighted. Now click on the "Repair" button and once that is done processing click on the "Compact" button. You will see dialogue of file names cross thebar above the Exit button very fast. Once the dialogue is not visible (the process for just the system files will be very fast and you may not see anything.) you can move on to the compact button which will be a bit slower and here you should notice file names appearing during the compacting.
Now the system files on the local computer have been repaired and compacted it is time to service the actual data. The process is the same except now we insure to uncheck the box for system files. Highlight the database by clicking it. Click on the Repair button then the Compact button again expecting the file names to appearacross the dialogue line as before, this time though expect the compacting procedure to take a little more time then with the system files.
You have now maintained your Databases. This should be done at least once a month and more often if you have a large employee base but no more than once a week.
